It's time to time to add another animal applique to the Cuddle Buddies Blanket! I have the pattern for the sweetest little monkey you've ever seen. He joins the patterns for a cow, kitten, piglet, bunny and bear that are already available. If you want to find all of the patterns for the blanket, you can find them here. Each month when I release a new pattern I feel as if I have a new favorite and this month is no different. It's quick and easy and I have tutorials for all of the pieces.
Let's get started!

Yarn – Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Latte and Ivory with a small amount of Black
Watch the tutorial here:
Gauge:
Not important for this project. If your monkey’s face is a little larger or a little smaller it will still fit wonderfully.
Yardage:
Latte: 16 yards
Ivory: 11 yards
Stitch Abbreviations:
mc – magic circle
ch - chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
Notes:
The ch at the start of each row does not count as a stitch.
Sl st to the first stitch of the row, not the chain.
The first stitch of the row SHOULD be in the same stitch you slip stitched into.
If you have any trouble making a magic circle, you can watch a tutorial here.

With Latte
Row 1 - Mc and place 6 sc in the mc, sl st to the first sc, ch 1 (6)
Row 2 – 2 sc in each stitch around, sl st to the first sc (12)
Finish off leaving a long tail to use later to sew the paws onto the blanket.
Weave in the starting ends.
Assembling the monkey applique:
Use a yarn needle and the tails left from each of the body parts to sew the pieces onto one another and the blanket.
Sew the muzzle onto the head.
Sew the white portion of the face onto the head overlapping the muzzle.
With Black yarn embroider a nose and mouth onto the muzzle, and eyes onto the white portion of the face.
Sew the head onto the blanket block. I like to place this near one of the joins on the block so the paws can hold onto the “frame.”
Sew the ears with about 15 empty stitches between the two, and under just the curled outside edge so that edge stands away from the blanket.
Sew the paws onto the blanket with the back edge overlapping the monkey’s head just a bit.
I hope you love this pattern as much as I do!
